This might just be your credo poem! A poem to live by!
Alternatively, I always wanted to write a poem that they might read at my funeral or quote on my tombstone. I think that's what you might have here. A poem to live by, and a poem to die by!
Now that’s a morbid thought I hadn’t had. I had two thought about this one. First, I wondered to myself who the ‘you’ was near the end. Is it loved ones? The world? God? Second thought was that I’ve never had any one thing in my life that I could completely commit to, and I’m envious of people who are so completely devoted and compelled of such clear purpose.
Maybe it doesn't matter who the "you" is. The important thing is that it's a gift. What makes it meaningful is that you are sharing it. Sounds trite, I know, pretty much everything good in life can be considered trite.
