Car Crash Blues

CLICK HERE TO HEAR THE SONG

Bought myself a car as soon as I could,

Bought myself a car as soon as I could,

I drove that car and man it felt good.

Got myself a girl and she liked my car,

Got myself a girl and she liked my car,

Told that girl together how we would drive far.

Me and my girl in the passenger seat,

Me and my girl in the passenger seat,

I never thought she was the kind to cheat.

So I drove my car as fast as I could,

Yeah I drove my car as fast as I could,

I drove my car and man it felt good.

I miss that car and I miss that girl,

I miss that car and I miss that girl,

Cause I drove too fast and misjudged the curve.

Well, I'm back! (working backwards to where I last left off). And it didn't take long to remember what I was missing! A beautiful bittersweet song, with terrific guitar work! Simple but powerful.

Great to have you back, Kelp. I know how busy you've been so I really appreciate it. I hope your effort is rewarded. I'm exploring with the sound of the the new resonator and open tunings since last you checked in. Spent most of the summer at the cottage trying to refine the technique and get comfortable with it.

I enjoyed the lyrics to Car Crash Blues. Thoughtful, evocative, and with the wistfulness of “what might have been”. In listening to it, though, the guitar overtakes the singer’s pleasant voice, and I had to fight to hear the words and emotion in the singing. Given the nature of the lyrics, a scale lower would add more depth to the song. Worth listening to the song.
